Having suffered the defection of a number of players, Wilberfoss visited Dringhouses with a weakened side for their division two game and were mesmerized by the home side's spinning threesome.

John Crowe took 4-55 but Ian Dews (3-10) was the most potent bowler, while Mike Kenyon finished with 3-40.

The only Wilberfoss batsman to make an impression was former Nafferton player Patrick Scott, whose 55 was his best effort since he joined the club at the start of the season and he helped his side reach 109.

Kevin McGuinness (25) was one of two Dringhouses wickets to fall before Dews completed a fine personal performance by hitting an unbeaten 51.

The season's first tie occurred at Mille Crux, where home side Rowntree were bowled out for 178 by Tadcaster Magnet and then dismissed their visitor's for an identical score.

Gerry Capelin was Rowntree's early batting success with 33 before Ian Parnaby produced his maiden first team half century as he scored 59. However, first act honours were firmly claimed by Tadcaster skipper Paul Clark, who took 7-48 in 19 overs as Rowntree were all out in the last over.

Overseas player Danny King then hit 59 to put Tadcaster firmly in the saddle. Tyrone Naude seemed to be taking his side to victory as Magnet reached 173-7. Paul Horner had claimed five wickets in his first game of the season for the factory side and he then saw Dave Whittle (3-45) grab two wickets in the penultimate over.

Naude moved to 38 not out as he levelled the scores with a brace of twos, but Horner then trapped the last Magnet batsman lbw to finish with 6-56 and ensure that both sides pocketed 24 points.
