TON-UP Mark Taylor steered visiting Clifton Alliance II to a seven-wicket third division win at Londesbrough Park.

For the hosts, Ben Lewis hit 63 and Tim Nettleton and Charlie Rook made 28 apiece in the total of 174 all out.

John Thornton was the best bowler on display with 3-54. But it was team-mate Taylor who then took full control. He crafted an unbeaten 110 to steer Clifton Alliance into second place.

Malton & Old Malton hit the division's highest total when they scored 235-7 against Acomb II. Stephen Baxter cracked 58 off just 55 balls while Chris Smith provided 45 and Chris Brigham topped off the innings with an unbeaten 36. Rob Littlewood then ensured a draw for Acomb by making a solid 83 not out aided by 45 from Dave Skilbeck.

In division four, Yapham gained little reward from their trip to Civil Service where they made 164-6. Dick Wright was their top man with 64, while M Pearson made 44no. Tom Olvey's 3-41 was the pick of the bowlers.

Service's successful reply saw them win by six wickets thanks to Darren Hanley (43), Andy Cliff (34) and James Charlton (30no).
