Driffield's Andy Inns showed good form at Osbaldwick, where he made 83 in an all-out total of 225 in an Hunters York and District Senior Cricket League first division match.

Rich Grice weighed in with 40 to combat the 4-33 recorded by home skipper Andy Hall and a supporting 3-51 from Andy Exley.

Osbaldwick's reply was spearheaded by Matt Dunne with 50 and Simon Levison 46, but their side were somewhat off the pace as Anthony Winterbottom took 3-36 and Chris Smith 4-26 to restrict them to 161-8.

An under-strength Carlton Towers side proved no match for Sheriff Hutton Bridge and suffered a 141-run defeat at Moor Farm.

Two Bridge players hit half-centuries Ian Clish scoring 55 and Paul Oldfield 56. Further runs came from Paul Scaling (39), Dave Coverdale (21) and Mike Smith, who had made 36 before sacrificing his wicket in the final over.

Smith then followed with a 4-26 spell as he and Dave Houldridge (3-28) dismissed Carlton for just 99.

York's opening pair of Jason English and Andy Kay shared two double-century opening partnerships last weekend and seemed certain to add another three-figure stand when they batted first against Whitkirk.

However, this was not to be as the stand was broken on 99 with English having made 67 and Kay 42. Brendon Ledgeway chipped in with 32 as Paul Wilkie's 3-58 helped dismiss the home side for 203.

The York openers' efforts were then eclipsed by their opposite numbers in the Whitkirk side with Brendan Prossliner making 95 and Craig Simpson 48 as they joined forces in a 148-run stand which set Whitkirk en route to a five-wicket win. English claimed 3-57 with his spinners.
