West Indian legend Collis King hit his 20th premier division century in Dunnington’s Hunters York & District Senior Cricket League clash with Thirsk.
King’s 140 was his 41st three-figure score in the York Senior League and he was backed by fellow West Indian Harwood Williams in an opening stand of 222.
Williams’ 110 not out was his tenth top flight ton, showing the kind of form that enabled him to score 1,108 runs in 2009.
After King’s departure, Dave Johnson ensured there was no respite for the home bowlers by making 40 not out to lift Dunnington’s total to 308-1.
Thirsk’s batsmen then dug in to earn a draw at 173-5.
Much-fancied Clifton Alliance suffered an agonising defeat at home to Goole, who claimed the final wicket off the penultimate delivery.
A fine unbeaten 100 by Byron Parker was pivotal for Goole, who made 234-6.
James Postill took 3-30 for the hosts and then followed up with 59. Other Alliance runs were provided by Richard Musgrave (48) and Adam Slater (28).
There was a quick finish at Norwood Park, where Beverley were crushed by Easingwold.
Easingwold’s opening duo of Dan Copeland (34no), and Steve Piercy (17no) sailed past a modest home total of 49 inside ten overs.
Paul Skilbeck took 5-22 as Beverley were dismissed for the tenth lowest total in the premier division’s 13-year history. Copeland took 2-6 and Piercy claimed 2-15.
Stamford Bridge’s 100 per cent record was squashed when they suffered an eight-wicket defeat to Acomb, who clocked up their first win of the season.
The home side’s success owed much to former Civil Service player Simon Brown, who recorded his best premier division figures of 7-55.
Bridge were shored up by an unbeaten 61 by Andy Milner, who helped his side to 131-9.
Acomb skipper Andy Tute then made a second successive half-century, with 54, as Acomb reached their target for the loss of two wickets.
Fenner suffered a six-wicket home defeat at the hands of Woodhouse Grange.
Fenner collapsed to 50-7 before staggering to 102-8. Tom Quinn bowled 11 maidens in his 3-14, while Nick Hadfield grabbed 4-44. Grange teenager Andrew Bilton then hit 37.
Pacesetters Sessay made it three out of three when they beat Studley Royal by 26 runs.
Ben Crewe took 3-52 for the Royals, but a 120-run stand for the third wicket between Mark Wilkie (66) and Nick Harrison (71) helped Sessay to 200-5.
In reply, Rob Nicholson made 51 and Gary Blackburn hit 47.
Stuart Peirse took 3-34 and Steve Langstaff claimed 4-38, but the game was heading for a draw until the tenth wicket fell off the penultimate delivery.
An unbroken stand of 172 between Ian Lynch (98no) and Jack Leaning (50no) saw Heworth to a nine-wicket win over Hornsea in division one.
Hornsea made 171, with Leaning taking 3-48.
Hull Zingari are top after beating Clifton Alliance II.
Alliance made 173-9, with John Myers hitting 56.
Russ Crowe then took 3-68, but was unable to stave off the Hull side’s success at 176-6.
James Wackett hit 95 and Alex Collins made 67 as York earned an 81-run victory over Bridlington.
York’s total of 278-7 was too much for Brid, who were all out for 197 with Peter Groves capturing 4-66.
Pickering posted a total of 241-5 at Sheriff Hutton Bridge.
Mark Shepherd made 53 before Colin Frank (81no) and Dave Greenlay (67) forged a 113-run partnership.
Bridge dug in to gain a draw with Adam Fisher making 36 in their 158-9. Rob Aconley (3-43) and George Barker (3-17) were the pick of the bowlers.
