HUNTINGTON batsman Marcus Johnson wrote his name into the Hunters York & District Senior Cricket League record books with a mammoth 234 against Cawood in division 5A.
Johnson smashed 36 boundaries in his record-breaking effort, surpassing the previous best of 214 not out by James Turner, of Thorp Arch & Boston Spa, in 2004.
Ten-man Cawood won the toss and put the visitors in to bat only to see the York side amass 401-1.
Tom Shaw was 105 not out and Ralph Bradley made 41.
Shaw then took 5-35 to help skittle Cawood for 75.
A record of having scored a century in each of the last 18 seasons was created by Duncombe Park’s Brian Leckenby when he posted 105 against Bubwith in division three.
Batting first, visitors Bubwith reached 205-5 after Neil Readman scored 86. In reply, the hosts got 207-1. Phil Marwood hit 79.
In the premier division, Sessay made it four wins from four when they crushed newcomers Fenner by eight wickets thanks to a devastating spell of 7-40 from Steve Langstaff.
Fenner were all out for 144 and Matthew Till’s 57 for the home side was backed by Nick Thorne (45no).
Woodhouse Grange lost at home by 53 runs to Acomb, whose Scott Nicholls fell seven short of a century in their 219-7.
Simon Brown’s 5-52 then saw Woodhouse all out for 166.
Studley Royal recorded their first win in the top flight when they beat Stamford Bridge by ten wickets.
Batting first, Stamford were shot out for 134 thanks to Studley skipper Steve Walmsley’s 5-27.
Walmsley then carried his bat with 54 and Rob Nicholson was 76 not out.
Clifton Alliance got their title aspirations back on track with a six-wicket win at home to Thirsk.
After restricting the visitors to 190, ex-Thirsk player Sean Holmes scored 32 and Jason Gatus top-scored with 69 in Clifton’s 191-4.
In division one, Neil Elvidge smashed an unbeaten 158 as Folkton & Flixton beat Ripon in a match that saw more than 600 runs scored.

Pickering’s fine start to the season continued when they beat Clifton Alliance by five wickets.
Clifton were bowled out for 164, with Mark Haines taking 3-44 and Dave Greenlay capturing four wickets.
Greenlay then top-scored with 46. Colin Frank hit 36 and Craig Aconley made a swift 29 not out to finish things off.
In division two, Carlton Towers’ Mark Holmes hit 64, including three sixes and eight fours, at home to New Earswick. However, it could not prevent the visitors winning by six wickets.
• Events on the field were overshadowed by the death of Judy Pattison, the wife of the league’s managing secretary Albert Pattison. A minute’s silence was observed before a number of matches.
