YORK II maintained their promotion push with a 114-run win over Hornsea in division one of the Hunters York & District Senior Cricket League.

In-form York skipper Dave Simpson hit 63 and Richard Love made 52, while Ian Jarvis added an unbeaten 42 to a total of 247 all out.

Hornsea were then sunk with some panache as Ali Raper claimed 4-34 and Mike Mortimor 3-31 as second-placed York bowled out their visitors for 133.

John Myers made 41 and Andy Parkinson hit 40 when Clifton Alliance II batted first against Heworth.

Heworth’s attack was very much a spin affair as Mark Bell claimed 4-60 and Tom Forsdike 3-55.

Heworth’s innings was given a flying start as Jonathon Draper (34) and Ian Lynch (82) rattled up 122 for the first wicket in 30 overs.

Danny White then conceded only 19 runs off 15 overs, but the visitors were not to be denied and, with Jack Leaning making 30 not out, they reached their target in 45.5 overs for the loss of three wickets.

Two relegation-threatened sides met at Sheriff Hutton Bridge, where Folkton & Flixton were indebted to Nick Zazrzwinski (68) as they reached 194-7. Home bowler Jamie Hopper took 4-89, while Mike Smith took 3-67.

Three Bridge wickets fell for 17, but were able to mount a recovery via the Fisher brothers. Mark made 40 and elder brother Adam, included in the Combined Services squad for a game at Lord’s in the coming week, got 39.

However, Bridge were never likely to emerge as winners as Ben Elvidge took 4-53 and they drew at 155-8.

Pickering beat Ripon by seven wickets. Ripon were all out for 162 with Mark Haines taking 3-27 and Tony Evans 3-17. Skipper Chris Nichols made 71 to see his side home.

Division two leaders Dringhouses slipped from first to fourth when they suffered a shock two-wicket defeat at Pocklington. Sam Lingard made 59 as Dringhouses were dismissed for 203, with Alex Downey taking 5-40.

Neil Jackson’s 90 earned his side a two-wicket win that lifts them out of the relegation zone.

New Earswick took their place in the danger area after a nine-wicket defeat at Beverley.

James Routledge (30) and Andy James (29) achieved some success but a spell of 6-19 by Ian Sugden had them all out for 139. Beverley moved to victory as Ian Goforth made 75 not out.

The Linsley brothers were in complete command as Malton & Old Malton thrashed Carlton Towers by nine wickets. Mike’s 5-54, together with 3-26 by Olly Gilbank, had Carlton all out for 153 in the 43rd over.

Mike Linsley then hit an unbeaten 79 as he and brother Stephen (51no) added 133 in an unbroken second-wicket stand.

There were half-centuries for Osbaldwick’s Andy Hall (71) and Andy Horner (51) as their side hit 230-8 at Tadcaster Magnet.

Ben Preston took 4-77 for Magnet and Paul Clark claimed 4-55.

Preston then guided Magnet to a draw at 159-7 and remained unbeaten on 29 when stumps were drawn.
