Clifton Alliance and Dunnington are locked together at the top of the Hunters York & District Senior Cricket League premier division.

Pacesetters Alliance dropped four points when they were held to a draw at Fenner, but they remain top by virtue of one more outright win than Dunnington, who went level on points after winning at Studley Royal.

Clifton wicketkeeper Shaun Holmes hit eight boundaries in his 63 and shared a third-wicket stand of 88 with skipper John Gilham, who made 45.

Fenner’s Dominic Rhodes took 4-34 and leg-spinner Mike Arundall claimed 4-77.

Fenner were then shackled as James Postill conceded only 21 runs in a 15-over opening spell.

Rich Carroll’s 3-44 helped reduce Fenner to 175-6.

Studley Royal were dismissed for 197 in 45.5 overs by Dunnington and that failure to use their full allocation of overs proved costly.

Matt Coad top-scored with 79, while Rob Nicholson made 39.

Dunnington’s Rob Chipps claimed 4-47 and Adam Iyer took 3-61.

Collis King then led Dunnington’s reply and seemed to be heading for yet another three-figure score before he fell for 92.

It was left to young Gareth Miles to steer his side to a five-wicket win with an unbeaten 41 as Dunnington grabbed full points after using 13 of the extra 24 balls available to them.

Easingwold strengthened their grip on third when they beat fourth placed Woodhouse Grange by four wickets.

Grange were only able to make 160-9 due to some good bowling by Paul Skilbeck, who took 4-57 in 21 overs, and Steve Piercy, who claimed 4-53.

Skilbeck then followed with 38 as he and Martin Piercy (45) negated the threat of Richard Hollingsworth (3-49) to move to a winning 163-6.

There were runs for the losers from Andy Bilton (25), Steve Burdett (29) and Tom Young (28no).

Acomb skipper Andy Tute hit a fine unbeaten 123 to help his side gain an important victory over fellow strugglers Thirsk.

Ryan McKendry took 4-53 for visiting Thirsk, but 11th placed Acomb were able to total 209-8.

McKendry followed with 43, while skipper Mark Cook made 47 and Ben England added 41.

However, Joe Dale (4-40) and Scott Nicholls (3-36) combined to bowl Thirsk out for 189 in the 48th over.

Stamford Bridge skipper Matt Beckett played a decisive role in his side’s five-wicket home win over Goole Town.

Batting first, Goole made 159-9 with Beckett taking 3-46 in 16 overs as he teamed up with fellow spinner Dave Chaplin, who took 4-55 in 20 overs.

Beckett followed up with an unbeaten 56 as he and Danny Hagan (43) saw the hosts to victory.
