Division 5A leaders Huntington continued on their unstoppable journey towards the title as they took only nine overs to overhaul a modest target set by Hovingham.

Mick Storey claimed 7-10 in 12 overs and John Cowell gave good support with 3-28 as the visitors were demolished for 49 in 22.4 overs. Huntington raced to a seven-wicket win. Murray Coyle was 32 not out.

Drax had a seven-wicket win at Sheriff Hutton. The Castlemen were dismissed for 94 in 31.2 overs. Matt Atkinson took 4-16 and Darrell Lawson claimed 4-15.

The visitors powered to victory in 19.5 overs, with Ben Warley making an unbeaten 50.

Carlton Towers were rolled over for 115 by Civil Service pair Richard Horner (4-18) and Phil Northing (3-24). In reply, Darren Hanley hit 67 not out in an eight-wicket win.

In division 5B, Whitkirk made 203-9 against Bolton Percy, with Mike Ferguson taking 3-35.

Bolton fell away to 72 with token resistance from Steve Temple (24).

York IV had a 79-run win at Thorp Arch. The victors piled up 255-5 with runs from James Reynolds (55), A Carter (47), Greg Allison (54no) and Tom Copeland (34no).

Skipper Copeland then grabbed 3-4 and Fenton 3-52 as Arch were all out for 176.

One of the day’s biggest wins saw Civil Service beat Stillington by 142 runs at Heslington.

Dan Dodds made 78, Phil Murkin got 31 and captain Graham Purdy hit 41 in Civil Service’s 223-7.

Chris Brown took 4-30 for Stillington and then followed with 32, but John Winfield (3-37) and Paul Wynn (4-7) had them all out for 81.

The day’s narrowest victory was gained by Rowntrees in their derby game at New Earswick, where they won by 11 runs to ease off the foot of the table.

In a game dominated by bowlers, Adam Hewitson claimed 3-22 and John Routledge 3-16 to dismiss Rowntrees for 126.

The only innings of note came from Steve Aldous, whose 27 proved to be critical.

In reply, Andy Freeman made 30 not out but ex-Earswick bowler Neil Davidson took 3-42 as he and Chris Gartland (4-30) combined to bowl Earswick out for 115.
