Clifton Alliance II’s last pair were left hanging on for a draw at new division one leaders York in the Hunters York & District Senior Cricket League.

James Wackett led the way for York with 91, while Simon Lambert hit 68 and Dave Simpson weighed in with 34 in a total of 252-6.

Clifton used only two bowlers in the 48-over innings, with Danny White having figures of 3-120 and Sam Motteshead 3-128.

In Clifton’s reply, John Myers made 29 and Nick Hindle 36, but Matt Hodgson (3-15) and Mike Mortimor (3-28) bowled their side to the brink of victory before Alliance skipper Jonathon Stevens hit 29 not out to see his side to 140-9.

Hosts Folkton & Flixton posted 245-5 against Heworth, with Rob Lacey making 45, Neil Elvidge 38 and Ben Elvidge 39 before Richard Malthouse (50no) and Stuart Stocks (33no) added late runs.

Lee Elvidge then put pressure on Heworth with 3-32, but the visitors were able to avoid defeat at 198-7 after Tom Forsdike (48no) and Guy Wilkinson (44) joined forces in an 87-run stand for the seventh wicket.

Batting first against Bridlington, Sheriff Hutton Bridge were given a good foundation by their opening pair Paul Oldfield (38) and Mike Smith (55).

Adam Fisher added 31, but they needed 36 not out from David Phillips – including 21 off the final over – to lift them to 184-6 as Joe Edmondson took 4-46.

Casey Rudd then hit 50 but Oldfield claimed 5-28 and Jamie Hopper 3-57 as Brid were dismissed for 165 to lose by 19 runs.

In division two, Sewerby maintained their promotion challenge with a comfortable home victory over New Earswick, who were dismissed for only 93.

Nicky Johnson took 3-10 and Chris Briggs (34) and Ben Dobson (25) saw the hosts triumph by seven wickets.

Leaders Selby disposed of one of their main challengers in clinical fashion as they overwhelmed Dringhouses by 163 runs.

Batting first at St Helen’s Road, Selby prospered through Lee Wild (65), Mike Smailes (57), Jamie Wheeler (30) and Kev Lamb (37) on their way to a total of 249-7.

Dringhouses were wiped away for only 86, with Chris Dye earning 4-32.

Matt Holmes made 42 when Carlton Towers batted first at Osbaldwick but was unable to prevent his side falling to their 11th defeat in 13 games.

Richard Cox took 3-13 as Carlton succumbed to 104 all out.

In reply, Matt Dunne made 50 before being the only home batsman to fall, leaving Andy Hall to move to an unbeaten 42 in a nine-wicket win.

Malton & Old Malton eased into second place with an eight-wicket win at Pocklington.

Pock made 170-9 batting first, with Ian Camwell making 28, skipper Andy Inns 34, Nathan Schultz 30 and Ben Rees 32.

Malton’s Mike Linsley took 4-65.

His brother, Stephen, then hit 69 not out, while Chris Smith added 51 and Josh Greenlay 26 not out to see the Ryedale side to victory.
