PREMIER division stalwart Des Wyrill reached a memorable personal milestone as he notched up 20,000 runs in the Hunters York & District Senior Cricket League.

The Thirsk veteran, who has had spells with Sheriff Hutton Bridge and Heworth, bagged the 22 runs he needed against Easingwold and went on to get 50 before being forced to retire with a pulled muscle.

Thirsk batted first and Wyrill helped them to 186-4, but they had to settle for a tie as Easingwold closed on 186-9. Ryan McKendry struck an unbeaten 67 and Mark Cook added 41 for Thirsk.

McKendry then grabbed 5-63 as Easingwold were reduced to 73-6.

However, the visitors dug in with good effect through Andy Dawson (37) and Richard Bowling (43).

The top flight’s leading two sides clashed at Clifton Alliance as visitors Dunnington were routed.

Alex Renton claimed 4-32 in 12.5 overs and Rich Carroll grabbed 4-12 in only three overs as the visitors were dismissed for 107.

Harwood Williams, with 24, was the pick of Dunnington’s batsmen, but then saw Shaun Holmes make 45 and Jason Gatus hit an unbeaten 34 as Clifton won by seven wickets in 21.5 overs.

Two title outsiders clashed at Sessay as Woodhouse Grange got the better of a draw with the hosts.

There were half-centuries from Nick Hadfield (77) and Mike Burdett (63) as well as 40 by Chris Bilton as Grange posted 246-6.

Richard Till took 3-55 for Sessay, who had a middle order collapse after Mark Wilkie’s 48.

Steve Burdett sent down a miserly 16 overs for his 3-25, but Sessay were able to gain an honourable draw at 199-6 after Nick Harrison (73) and Nick Thorne (38no) added 112 for the fifth wicket.

Acomb’s last man was run out off the penultimate ball attempting a run to the ’keeper in a bid to gain extra bonus points, leaving Studley Royal victors by 51 runs.

Studley skipper Steve Walmsley had a fine game, making 62 and then following with 3-30, while team-mate Matthew Coad made 37 and then claimed 5-38.

Visiting ’keeper Rob Nicholson added 44 in the Royals’ total of 200-8 as Simon Brown claimed 3-74 and Joe Dale 3-50.

Acomb were given a sound start by Andy Tute (43) and Scott Nicholls (42), but then fell by the wayside at 149 all out.

Fenner beat Stamford Bridge by four wickets. Stamford were shot out for only 97, with Dan Hagan making 29. The hosts were 73-1 before winning at 98-6.
