THE Hunters York & District Senior League reached the final of the Leeds Area Cricket Council Knockout Cup with a win over the South Yorkshire League.
The 28-run triumph at Carlton Towers on Sunday avenged last year’s defeat in the final and they will have home advantage in this year’s showpiece.
Stamford Bridge’s Danny Hagan hit a fine 72 and Dominic Rhodes, of Fenner, added 38 for the York Senior League.
The innings gained a late boost when skipper Richard Medforth, of Hornsea, cracked a critical 25 not out off 11 deliveries to lift the total to 226-6.
South Yorkshire made a steady start, reaching 72 before losing their first wicket, but Studley Royal’s Steve Walmsley captured 6-44 as the visitors were dismissed for 198 in 37.2 overs.
