RELEGATION strugglers New Earswick were beaten at home by Osbaldwick in division two.

There were three handy performances in the first half of the game, with Andy Routledge making 43 for Earswick and Andy Horner (3-12) and Andy Hall (3-32) combining to dismiss them for 105.

Matt Dunne saw Osbaldwick to a convincing nine-wicket win with an unbeaten 52. Mike Hattee made 28 before becoming Earswick’s only victim.

After losing 11 of their first 13 games, Carlton Towers clocked up their first win of the season when they beat Dringhouses by 78 runs at Fishpond Field.

Lewis Ellen (56) and Mark Holmes (50) took the hosts to a total of 222-7.

Dringhouses were then dismissed for 144, despite the efforts of Sam Lingard (40), Alex Dale (39) and Ian Wilson (25).

Leaders Selby suffered their second defeat of the season when they were outclassed by Sewerby.

Three Selby batsmen made satisfactory scores, with Kev Lamb hitting 42, Ian Lake 45 and Gary Moore 40 not out in a total of 167-8.

There were three wickets apiece for Nick Johnson (3-68) and Russ Robinson (3-54).

In Sewerby’s successful reply, Ben Dobson made 52 and Mike Artley had reached 62 not out when they notched up a seven-wicket triumph.
