One of the highest match aggregates in York & District Senior League history saw Pickering get the better of a division one draw with Folkton & Flixton.

Pickering compiled a massive 317-3 to set the scene for 608 runs in a 46-over game, with Flixton making 291-8. Veteran Pikes skipper Dave Greenlay led the way with an unbeaten 147. Mark Shepherd gave fine support with 85.

Flixton’s Neil Elvidge then hit 159 in whirlwind fashion, racing to 50 off 22 deliveries and three figures off 56 balls. Shepherd rounded off a satisfying day by claiming 5-97.

Selby tasted defeat for the first time this season as they went down by five wickets against Thirsk.

The match was switched to Crayke due to racing in Thirsk and, on a bowler-friendly surface, the visitors were wrecked in 16.1 overs as Stuart Christon took 7-17 and Ben England 3-24 to dismiss them for only 50.

Sheriff Hutton Bridge were denied a third outright win when Hornsea’s last pair survived for eight balls to gain a draw. The Moor Farm-based outfit did emerge as divisional leaders with a four-point advantage over Harrogate.

Paul Oldfield hit 54 in an opening stand of 79 for Bridge and his partner, Mark Fisher, played a decisive anchor role in reaching 58.

Adam Fisher added impetus with a speedy 30, but the decisive end of innings knock came from Dave Speak whose breezy 31 not out included a six off the final delivery.

He racked up 21 off the final over to boost the home total to 224-9.

Fisher removed both openers in the fourth over, but Hornsea held out at 167-9. Jamie Hopper took 3-62 and Paul Oldfield grabbed 3-3 in two overs.

Clifton Alliance II also claimed a draw by their finger tips when they replied to Acomb’s 200 all out with a score of 165-9.

Matt Dickinson hit 72 for Acomb, while top Clifton bowlers were Frances Hawthorne, with 3-28, and Reece Crowe, who took 3-38. Joe Dale then took 4-42 and skipper Simon Browne 3-49 but Alliance drew thanks to John Hetherton’s 54.
