DIVISION five leaders Huntington maintained their maximum record when they clocked up their fourth win at the expense of Whitkirk.

Tom Shaw was in the action with both bat and ball as he followed his 70 with 4-22.

He had solid batting support from Nick Johnson (68) and John Overton (30) as Ashley Bell (3-54) and Josh Kelly (3-45) made inroads.

However, it was the Huntington skipper’s decision to declare after 41 overs with his side on 218-8 that was to be decisive as his bowlers then went on to dismiss Whitkirk for 169 in the first of the extra overs.

Civil Service may well have recorded their highest ever total when they plundered the Rowntrees attack to the extent of 312-5 at Mille Crux.

A nap hand of batsmen took advantage of a limited attack to improve their averages. Darren Hanley made 42, Graham Purdy 39 and Jim Chisholm 37. Chris Lowen then compounded the home agony by making 74, while Graham Sherlock chipped in with 35no.

Three Rowntrees batsmen also enjoyed the conditions with Paul Horner hitting 74, Andy Trotter 40 and Sean Marshall 31. However, their run-chase was too high and the hosts were eventually all out for 226.
