Selby’s Tom Collins was on course to become only the fourth player to hit centuries in three consecutive games.

However, his fine innings ended when he reached 75 in the division one game against Sheriff Hutton Bridge.

Solid knocks too by Matt Hoyle (34) and Mike Smailes (47no) enabled Selby to reach 241-8, despite a 4-83 return by Jamie Hopper.

Four batsmen combined to earn Bridge a productive draw as they responded with 218-8. Opener Paul Oldfield made 45 and Rob Pinder 61. Nick Scaling, promoted to number three to boost the chase responded with 57, while his brother Paul made 37 to maintain the Bridge’s third place.

Joe Dale took 6-53 and Simon Brown 4-52 as Thirsk were knocked over for 112 at Acomb. Stuart Christon hit back with 3-61 but Andy Green’s 53 steered the hosts to a comfortable six-wicket victory.

Clifton Alliance II remain rooted to the foot of the table despite beating Hornsea.

Within the Alliance’s first innings total of 176-9 there were cameo knocks from John Myers (26), Andy Parkinson (33) and Ryan Partington (25) as home bowlers Richard Medforth (3-48) and Ryan Kirk (3-37) struck.

Hornsea made a poor start to their reply but were rallied by Medforth, who made 44. Francis Hawthorne (3-49) and Tim Weaver (3-59) made inroads and as the game entered the final over, the last Hornsea pair needed two runs to win.

Alistair Kirk, having made 43, was run out to hand Clifton a one-run win.
