Duncombe Park were knocked off their division three perch in a draw at Malton who had to thank Shane Bonser (73no) for their total of 204-7.
Steve Baxter weighed in with 37 as J Crannange captured 3-54. The same player then made 39 for Park as he and Pete Kent (26) gave handy support to Brian Leckenby, whose 83 took Park close at 187-8. Good bowling by Brett Crowe (4-43) and Tony Linsley (3-20) enabled Malton to keep their noses in front.
Three Sheriff Hutton bowlers each took three wickets at Carlton Towers where the home side were rolled over for 135.
Ben Harrison’s 3-18 was the most economic just ahead of Andy Kenny (3-26) and Buddhi Mirando (3-25). Nigel Ling (29) and Neil Robinson 30 were Carlton’s better batsmen.
Sheriff’s reply started with a 72-run opening stand between Ed Taylor (41) and Rich Ainley (38) before Joel Welford made an unbeaten 43 to round off a seven-wicket win.
