MAN-OF-THE-MATCH Mike Smith starred as Sheriff Hutton Bridge recorded their first win of the division five season in fine style.
York IV’s batting was blown away as Smith claimed six wickets for seven runs in a 12-over spell that included eight maidens.
Having totalled only 70, York were then beaten by nine wickets in only 16.3 overs. Matt Fisher hit 20 out of the first 24 and Smith then reached 25 not out by hitting the winning run, leaving opener Steve Clipston unbeaten on 24.
Rowntrees suffered a sixth defeat when they were hammered by ten wickets by Stamford Bridge at Mille Crux.
Stef Cockerill’s 40 in a total of 122 was the only Rowntrees success as Des Healey claimed 4-11 in six overs.
Stamford then took an untroubled path to victory with Martin Woodliffe making 43 not out and Olly Pimlott an unbeaten 66.
Previous leaders Castleford were toppled from their perch when they had the worst of a draw against visiting Selby and slipped to third.
Gary Moore hit 59 and John Nuerden 35 as Selby posted a score of 204-8. Nuerden then took 3-31 as Cas replied with 159-7, with Paul Hursthouse making 60.
Huntington returned to the top of the table after an unbeaten 105 from Tom Shaw, allied to Ralph Bradley’s 68, saw them overtake Yapham’s 190 all out for the loss of one wicket.
For the losers, Josh Miller was unbeaten with 60, Barry Pearson made 42 and Martin Pearson hit 32.
Civil Service’s batsmen prospered when they entertained Thirsk. The star was Chris Lowen, who bludgeoned 118 off 56 balls as his side reached 275-8. Barry Petty took 4-54.
Ross McAndrew followed with 40 as Thirsk batted out for a passive draw at 119-5.
