SIX-HITTING all-rounder Paul Skilbeck struck six maximums in an over off Clifton Alliance spinner Alex Renton in the Hunters York & District Senior Cricket League premier division.

The long-serving all-rounder conjured the perfect sequence in the 48th over of the game en route to a whirlwind 71.

That knock overshadowed Jonathon Marwood’s eighth league century as he made 102 after sharing an opening stand of 101 with Steve Piercy (41). With youngster Matt Turnbull making 27, Easingwold were able to reach 269-5.

Renton claimed three wickets but, with 36 runs coming from one over, his figures read 3-99.

In reply, Adam Slater made 29 and James Postill 39 before an unbeaten 63 by Joel Hughes took Clifton to a draw at 216-6.

Leaders Woodhouse Grange added to Sessay’s woes when they won by four wickets in a low-scoring game.

Sessay’s batsmen were shackled by Nick Hadfield (4-29) and Chris Suddaby (3-37) and were only able to reach 113-8 in their 50 overs. Nick Thorne top-scored with 36.

Grange’s successful reply was by no means plain sailing as Richard Till took 4-28, but Chris Bilton’s 38 saw Grange home in the 45th over.

Dunnington’s Collis King again went on the rampage at Studley Royal as he clocked up yet another century, his third of the season and his 47th in the league.

Having shared an opening stand of 100 with skipper Paul Miles (48), King went on to reach 133 not out as he and Dave Johnson (108no) added 200 to see Dunnington to 300-1.

Studley Royal were dismissed for 217 as Johnson rounded off a hugely satisfying day by taking 6-80.

For the losers, Charlie Scatchard made 56, Rob Nicholson 30, Matt Pickles 39 and Matt Coad 40.

Despite batting out for a draw at Beverley, Heworth remain adrift at the foot of the division.

Beverley’s innings of 239-9 included runs from Peter Groves (33), Jon Fisher (35) and Andrew Spence (52).

There was a marathon spell by Mark Bell, who returned 4-84 in 21 overs.

Jonathon Draper responded with 63 for Heworth, with Tom Collard adding 30. Steve Blake threatened with 3-30 but Tom Forsdyke’s unbeaten 32 enabled his side to reach a draw at 181-8.

Stamford Bridge’s Steve Sergeant tormented his former Fenner team-mates as his side maintained second place with a commanding draw.

Sergeant hit 65 to build on an opening stand of 84 between Dave Chaplin (35) and Matt Beckett (49). Dave Bradshaw then added 39.

The innings ended with a flourish when John Park completed a hat-trick off the final three deliveries to boost his figures to 7-66 in 15 overs.

The only Fenner batsman to make a showing was Graham Williamson with 41.

Earlier Sargeant had claimed three wickets to cut off any Fenner hopes of chasing down their target. He returned to claim an extra victim with his off-spin to close with figures of 4-29 as Fenner reached 133-8.

Each side boasted a century-maker when Goole lost by three wickets at York. Kev Murphy hit an unbeaten 107 in Goole’s total of 231-8, with young spinner Andrew Simpson taking 3-81 and T Konavakkage 4-51.

York won with a ball to spare thanks to an unbeaten 109 by Ryan McKendry and Simon Lambert’s 44.
