PROMOTED Selby hit top spot in Hunters York & District Senior Cricket League division one after inflicting an eight-wicket defeat on Driffield II.
The Kings Millers were only able to make 137 as they struggled against Steve Precious (3-34) and Josh Jackson (3-38).
Selby’s opening pairing of Lee Wild (29) and Matt Hoyle (78no) put the issue beyond doubt as they posted an opening stand of 102.
Acomb moved into second place when they had a beneficial draw against Hull Zingari.
Acomb made 226-9 thanks to Andy Green (49), Joe Burton (35), Matt Dale (33) and Joe Dale (39).
Spinner Harry Booth returned a career-best 7-49, supported by veteran wicketkeeper Richard Sykes, who pulled off four stumpings and held a catch.
Fifth-placed Sheriff Hutton Bridge beat Bridlington by four wickets with five balls to spare.
Bridlington’s 162-8 owed much to Nick Tennant’s 66. Jamie Hopper bowled unchanged to claim 4-61, while Elliott Cooper took 3-23.
Teenage opener Mark Fisher then made 46 and Rob Pinder (22), Paul Scaling (23) and Adam Fisher (23) provided support.
The Bridge side included 13-year-old Yorkshire Academy ace Matthew Fisher, playing alongside his elder brothers and cousin for the first time.
Pickering shot themselves in the foot at Clifton Alliance when, with three runs required off the final two deliveries, they suffered two run outs to close on 198-9, agonisingly short of their hosts’ total of 199-9.
Clifton’s runs were provided by John Myers (30), Tim Weaver (66) and Alistair Wray (43no), while Dave Greenlay bowled the full 24-over stint to claim 4-60 and George Barker had 3-58.
In reply, Mark Shepherd made 77, Chris Nicholls 28 and Craig Aconley 37 as Pickering countered Dave Friend’s 5-51.
In division two, Bolton Percy’s unbeaten record was blown away when Beverley Town emerged as five-wicket victors at North Road.
Peter Houseman hit 29 as the hosts were dismissed for 149 by Nick Robinson (3-75), Peter Parnaby (2-24) and Jamie Roe (3-31). Beverley’s response was headed by Ben Fish’s 70.
There was a low-scoring affair at St Helen’s Road, where hosts Dringhouses were dismissed for 88 by Malton & Old Malton.
Mike Linsley took 3-28 and his brother, Stephen, then made 30 and Simon Baxter hit 34 as Malton edged to a four-wicket victory.
Pocklington beat fellow strugglers Osbaldwick by eight wickets.
Dave West’s 32 was the only bright spot in Osbaldwick’s 129 all out as Ben Rees grabbed 5-18 and Joss Room took 3-42.
Neil Jackson (65no) and Ian Jozefowitz (46no) saw Pock home.
York III lost by six wickets at Whitkirk.
Ian Jarvis (61), Toby Clemminson (35) and Tim Clark (32) made runs as York were all out for 185.
Dominic Snook hit back with 3-51.
