STRUGGLING Rowntrees suffered their eighth defeat in nine division five games as hosts Selby cruised to an effortless ten-wicket victory.
Jeff Romans’ 4-29 and Jo Ramaniwz’s 3-16 had ’Trees all out for 64, and Ed Townend led the home reply with an unbeaten 32.
Second-placed Huntington came off second best in a home draw with York IV, who moved out of the bottom two with panache.
Jim Reynolds hit 60 and Steve Jones made 41, but Carl Blundell stole the show to make 101 and lift York to 257-6. Huntington eased to a draw at 127-6, with Richard Shaw 37 not out.
Sheriff Hutton Bridge’s Murray Coyle was the star of his side’s 85-run win over Civil Service.
Coyle hit his first half-century for the club in making 51 not out and then claimed 4-10. The hosts totalled 158-8 against Richard Horner (3-19) and Phil Northing (3-45). Dan Clipston (4-30) and Coyle skittled Service for 73.
Thirsk beat Yapham by five wickets.
Yapham opener Barry Pearson batted through 45 overs to make an unbeaten 70, while son Martin made 41 as Yapham closed with 159-3.
The home side’s reply centred on Neil Collinson’s 82 and Rob Garner (39) saw Thirsk home with three balls to spare.
