Acomb managed to hang on to second place by the skin of their teeth in division one of the Hunters York & District Senior Cricket League.
Third-placed Harrogate were two runs short of a winning score as they chased Acomb’s total of 243-7 at St George’s Road, failing to force a win which would have seen them replace their opponents in second place.
Acomb’s run-makers were Neil Grant (39), Scott Nicholls (32), Joe Dale (31no) and Matt Dickinson (35), while Harrogate replied with 242-6 through Geoff Baines (52), John Proud (65) and Ross Sedgeley (63).
An advantage draw at Hull Zingari enabled leaders Selby to increase their advantage over Acomb to 11 points.
Matt Hoyle hit 70, while Lee Wild made 62 and prolific youngster Tom Collins got 54 in Selby’s 225-8.
Zingari fell short of their target at 213-8 as John Jackson claimed 4-80.

Richard Musgrave then made an unbeaten 64 for Percy to earn a draw at 159-8.
Bottom side Dringhouses came within a whisker of gaining a shock first win of the season, but were foiled by third-placed York’s last pair.
York definitely came off second best in a game that saw a total of five run out dismissals. Three of those were in the Dringhouses innings, which closed on a seemingly below-par 158-8 as Rich Lindsay took 3-51. Sam Lingard top-scored with 59.
Ian Jarvis replied with 37 but his fellow batsmen struggled against Mick Kenyon (3-23) and Chris Evans (4-26), who both sent down 16 overs. York were clinging on at 109-9.
