An unbeaten 79 by Graham Purdy, allied to Darren Hanley’s 67, enabled Civil Service to chase down York IV’s 206 to win by six wickets in division five.

James Hepworth (62) top-scored for York while Nick Elliott (32) and Matt Thomas (30) also made good runs.

Chris Lowen had 3-47 for Service, whose successful response included an unbeaten 27 by Nick Olney.

Eddie Hull virtually took on Huntington single-handed when he made 83 and claimed 3-25.

Unfortunately, he had scant support from his Sheriff Hutton Bridge team-mates as Huntington won by two wickets at Moor Farm.

Hull’s batting exploits enabled Bridge to post a target of 179-7.

Huntington’s early runs came from James Helliwell and Nick Johnson, who both made 27, but the match-winning innings was produced by Noel Collins, with 56 not out.

Thirsk’s bowlers dismissed Stamford Bridge in the 44th over but the achievement came back to haunt them late in the game when Thirsk lost their final wicket in the extra over.

There was a half-century for Max Pimlott (55) in Stamford’s 198 all out. Jake Petty claimed 4-62 for Thirsk, who then faced problems from Ollie Pimlott (4-23). Only Ryan Spence (25) figured with the bat as Thirsk were all out for 137 in the 46th over.

At the halfway stage at Yapham, leaders Castleford seemed to be heading for a shock defeat after being skittled for 126.

However, Simon Tucker’s 5-19 sent the villagers packing for 108. In a game dominated by bowlers, Will Axup hit 29 for Yapham. Team-mate Martin Pearson earlier claimed 3-43.
