HOVINGHAM enjoyed the better of a draw against promotion-chasing Thorp Arch and Boston Spa in division three.
Opener Will Prest made 31 in his side’s 240-8, with Rich Brown making 50 and Tom Lund adding 39.
Guy Whatmore made 70 and Ben Bartlett 58 not out as Arch closed on 218-7, with Steve Mosey taking 4-51.
Malton & Old Malton II slipped to fourth after a three-wicket defeat by Welton & Brough. Oliver Gilbank made 33 and Andy Tyres 40 in Malton’s 149-9 but, despite Shane Bonsor’s 4-39, Welton won at 150-7.
Drax are still looking for that elusive first win of the season after drawing with a Sheriff Hutton side who are still clinging on to their hopes of a promotion place.
Sheriff’s Nick Schofield hit 75 and his father, Geoff, 27 as they were all out for 247. Matt Atkinson claimed 5-53.
When Drax replied, Oliver Ounsley made 75 and Andy Shelton 40, but Andy Kenny (3-36) and Rich Armitage (3-54) left Drax with a draw at 185-8.
Duncombe Park’s Brian Leckenby (30) quickly made the three runs required to reach 1,000 for the season.
Phil Marwood made 41, Ali Holmes 54 and Peter Kent 33 as Park moved to 209-8 at New Earswick, whose Ian Helmsley took 4-47.
When Earswick batted, Andy Routledge made 44 but Jake Crannidge had 3-32 as Earswick drew at 169-8 to give the Helmsley side an advantage draw which moved them back into second place.
