JIM BAXTER’S knock of 49 was in vain as Malton & Old Malton were beaten by nine wickets at Carlton Towers in division three of the Hunters York & District Senior Cricket League.
Towers batsman Jonathon Dilks hit an unbeaten 80 to steer his side past Malton’s below par total of 129 all out.
At Duncombe Park, Ripon’s 117-9 included 29 runs from Tom Leeming and 27 extras as Colin Humpleby took 4-33. After the break, Park were gifted 33 extras, including 13 no-balls, in support of Brian Leckenby’s unbeaten 46. Chris Warters claimed 3-22, but Park went on to win by four wickets.
Runs flowed at Sessay, where Pocklington’s 211-5 was easily overturned thanks to a second- wicket stand of 106 between Matt Wass (97no) and 18-year-old Paul Flintoff (43). Earlier, Neil Readman hit 43 in his first outing for Pock.
Andy Inns got 46, Neil Jackson 37 and Ted Donkin 47 not out.
Luke Ramsey was unbeaten with 38 when Sessay ran out eight- wicket winners.
All 20 wickets fell at Sheriff Hutton, where the home side beat Welton & Brough by nine runs.
Charlie Foster made 27 as Sheriff were bowled out for 119.
Eddie Hull, returning to Sheriff ranks after a number of seasons at local rivals Sheriff Hutton Bridge, took 5-15 in 15 overs and Andy Kenny grabbed 3-6 in 7.4 overs.
Nick Schofield held four catches as Welton were knocked over for 110.
Woodhouse Grange’s Jonathon Bean hit his 13th league century as he made 120 against Hovingham. With Matt Hattee hitting an undefeated 72, Grange declared on 238-4. When Hovingham replied, Richie Brown made 30 in their 101.
In division four, a century by Tom Piercy helped Huby to a five-wicket win at Acomb. The former Easingwold player hit 107 on his return to his original club.
Jack Hugill top-scored with 27 and then took 5-18 to mastermind Huntington’s 33-run beating of Pickering following his move from Sheriff Hutton Bridge.
Tom Langstaff’s 59 and 3-52 could not prevent Easingwold suffering a home defeat at the hands of Hull Zingari.
Richard Sherwood took 5-23 to inflict a 75-run defeat on hosts Londesborough Park when Selby visited in division five.
In the same division, Oliver Pimlott’s unbeaten 76 was in vain as Stamford Bridge became the second side to lose to Patrington.
Martin Pearson took 5-17 for Yapham at Whitkirk, who were all out for 103. However, Yapham were then blown away for only 53.
