Malton & Old Malton took maximum points from their Hunters York & District Senior Cricket League division two clash with Whitkirk.
Wayne Dawson’s 5-31 and Mike Linsley’s 5-26 saw Whitkirk whipped out for only 65.
The latter then made 22 not out to add to his brother Stephen’s 23 as Malton eased to a seven-wicket win.
Beverley Town moved to within six points of inactive division two leaders Tadcaster Magnet when they had an untroubled win against Thorp Arch & Boston Spa.
In a modest Arch total of 84, Ben Bartlett made 37 but a trio of Beverley bowlers ensured an enjoyable mid-innings interlude for their side.
There were three wickets apiece for Bradley Dobson, who had 3-7 off seven overs, and Steve Blake, with 3-21, before Jamie Roe took 4-20 to administer the mortal blow.
Tim Smith then showed his mastery of the conditions by hitting an unbeaten 56 as Beverley waltzed to a nine-wicket win.
The day’s highest individual innings came from Hornsea’s Paul Clappison, who made 89 not out to help his side record a win over relegation-threatened Clifton Alliance II.
There were contributions from Ryan Partington (37) and Nick Townson (28) in Clifton’s 147 all out against Hornsea bowlers Joe Butterworth (4-31) and Ben Atkinson (3-48).
Partington then followed with 3-40 as Hornsea stuttered to 91-5, but Clappison then found a capable ally in Alistair Kirk, who had reached 28 not out when victory was clinched without further loss.
Osbaldwick’s terrible fortune with the weather continued when, once again, their ground was waterlogged and unfit for play. They have now played only two home games out of ten scheduled fixtures.
Londesborough Park boosted their rating when they defeated Hull II by six wickets.
Martin Watkins made 38 in Hull’s 142-9, with Mark Tissiman taking 4-45.
The target proved sub-standard as Sam Medley hit 50 and Charlie Rook 35 not out. Simon Powdrell took 2-30 but was powerless to prevent a Londesborough win at 145-4.
