A CARIBBEAN Cricket XI will take on a League XI on Sunday to celebrate the centenary of the Hunters York & District Senior Cricket League.
Long-serving Dunnington player Harwood Williams, who had first class experience with the Leeward Islands, has compiled a strong squad for the game at Sheriff Hutton Bridge, which starts at 2pm.
The main attraction will be former West Indies star Collis King, of Barbados, while the side will also feature Williams’ fellow Leeward Islanders Steve Liburd and Lesroy Weekes, the former Yorkshire bowler.
The team also includes Elsroy Powell, Montcin Hodge, Claude Davis, Tashmal Mills, Dunnington player Kelvin Patterson, Dennis Rock, Ben Johnson and Eddie James.
A cricket tea competition will also be held on Sunday, with tea women and men from across the league competing with their favourite dishes.
The teas will be judged by Julie Thomson, of The Coach House Hotel, during the first innings and will then be sold to players and spectators, with proceeds going to the Air Ambulance.
Anyone interested in entering the cricket tea competition should phone Albert Pattison on 01904 490394.
