Former Yorkshire captain and director of cricket David Byas has been appointed one of four umpire coaches for the coming season by the England and Wales Cricket Board.
He joins another of the club's former captains John Hampshire, who has now retired as a first-class umpire, along with two other ex-umpires in David Constant and Mervyn Kitchen.
Byas, who quit Yorkshire during the winter when pushed sideways, will support the umpires and become instrumental in establishing and maintaining a high-performance team.
The coaches will observe each of their team on a number of days each season and may also be able to assess the performance of those umpires aspiring to first-class status.
