YORKSHIRE will bat all day on the first day of their practice match against Derbyshire at Headingley Carnegie tomorrow.
And then on Wednesday some of the specialist batsmen will give way to bowlers when it will be Derbyshire's turn to get time in the middle.
"Both sides have agreed on this format so that everyone gets a decent chance and if a batsman is out cheaply he may get another knock later on," said Martyn Moxon, Yorkshire's director of professional cricket.
The teams also agreed in advance that Yorkshire should bat on the first day because they will be without new captain Darren Gough, who will be at Lord's for the launch of the Friends Provident Trophy.
Gough will be back at Headingley on Wednesday and part of Yorkshire's bowling attack.
Matthew Hoggard, Tim Bresnan and Adil Rashid have all been chosen to play for MCC in the curtain-raiser against county champions Sussex which starts at Lord's on Friday.
The trio will stay on in London in readiness for Yorkshire's opening Championship game against Surrey at The Oval next Wednesday.
