Matthew Hoggard and Adil Rashid each claimed three wickets for Yorkshire on the second day of the practice match at Headingley Carnegie as Derbyshire reached 355 - for the loss of 12 wickets with one batsman also retiring.
Some of those batsmen who failed to make an impression first time round were given another go and the only substantial partnership was 150 between Ant Botha (59 retired) and Graham Wagg (90). Former Yorkshire player Chris Taylor hit 65.
Although Rashid had a good work-out, it was a less successful exercise for his fellow leg-spinner, Mark Lawson, who went for 103 in 16 overs without claiming a wicket.
A more orthodox match can be expected at the Riverside on Friday when Yorkshire play Durham in their final friendly before the season starts the following Wednesday with Yorkshire's Championship match against Surrey at The Oval.
Yorkshire were holding their start-of-season luncheon at Headingley today.
