YORKSHIRE have taken two wickets in the morning session of day three at Edgbaston, including the prized scalp of England man Ian Bell for a serene 54.
But Warwickshire will feel they have the edge in the match at lunch, having reached 176-3 from 53 overs of their second innings. They lead by 119 on a pitch that is still providing some help for the bowlers.
Bell and Varun Chopra shared 96 in 31 overs for the second wicket before the former Essex-man nicked a probing Tim Bresnan ball to Jacques Rudolph at first slip to leave the score at 105-2 in the 35th over.
Bell hit eight fours and a six in his 104-ball stay at the crease, but will be livid with himself having slapped an Ajmal Shahzad short ball straight to Adam Lyth at point. At that stage the hosts were 126-3 in the 39th, and had gained a lead of 69.
But Jonathan Trott and Jim Troughton came together to begin a fourth wicket alliance which will continue into the afternoon session.
Trott reached his half-century off 67 balls in the penultimate over before the break, and will resume after it unbeaten on 51.
