LUNCH UPDATE: After a farcical morning of cricket Yorkshire have finally set Somerset a victory target on the final day of their LV= County Championship match.
Resuming with a lead of 182 at Taunton it was always going to be fascinating to watch the Tykes' tactics, but their hosts rather made up stand-in captain Jacques Rudolph’s mind.
Instead of bowling any of his normal attack the Somerset captain Marcus Trescothick threw the ball to Nick Compton and James Hildreth, who had bowled just eight balls between them in the county’s first five Championship games, to try and get Yorkshire to declare.
They duly did after adding 179 runs from just 26.3 overs to set Somerset 362 to win in 68 overs.
Anthony McGrath was the biggest recipient of Compton and Hildreth’s bowling, adding 45 runs to his overnight score before being caught by Compton at slip off Hildreth for 83.
Rudolph also profited though, making a rapid 66 from 65 balls before he was caught by Zander de Bruyn off Compton.
He declared soon after to leave the hosts needing 5.3 an over to reach the required target.
By lunch they had reached 21 for no loss from eight overs, with Trescothick unbeaten on 13 and Arul Suppiah on eight.
It means they require another 341 runs to win.
