LUNCH UPDATE: Adil Rashid has taken two wickets on the third morning of the Roses clash against Lancashire at Headingley, but the visitors declared on a commanding 416-9 at lunch.
Tom Smith has recorded his maiden LV= County Championship century for the Red Rose, and Rashid has now taken four wickets in all for the White Rose.
Smith, the 24-year-old left-hander who dropped down the order to number six after struggling as an opener, had not bettered seven in eight four-day innings prior to this. But he reached three figures with a four over mid-wicket off Joe Sayers.
He shared 48 for the seventh wicket with captain Glen Chapple, who added 29 off 35 balls, and 79 for the ninth wicket with Kyle Hogg, who recorded 37 off 71.
Luke Sutton was trapped lbw for 20 by Steve Patterson in the first over of the day, while Sajid Mahmood was also trapped lbw by Ajmal Shahzad.
Rashid’s two wickets were both stumped by Jonny Bairstow, those of Chapple and Hogg. The latter fell to the final ball of the morning session.
Rashid has figures of 4-121 from 36.2 overs, but there has been strangely no sign of Tino Best in the White Rose attack.
Smith made 108 not out from 163 balls.
Both sides had earlier missed out on extra bonus points. Yorkshire claimed two and Lancashire three.
