LUNCH UPDATE: Three wickets for Adil Rashid have seen Yorkshire dominate the morning session on day two of their LV= County Championship clash with Essex.

The leg-spinner’s efforts have helped see the home side slump from their overnight score of 353-6, to 399 all out at Chelmsford.

His first Essex victim came in his first over, after Tim Bresnan and Steven Patterson had failed to make an early breakthrough, when Grant Flower found Anthony McGrath at mid-off for five.

That wicket proved to be vital as well, with Rashid then clean bowling Tim Phillips only four overs later for 30 as the Tykes picked up some momentum.

At this stage the home side were on 381-8, but their tail did not last long.

Tino Best then quickly ripped out Maurice Chambers leg stump for nought, before Rashid picked up his fifth wicket when Andy Carter was caught by Oliver Hannon-Dalby for eight.

Rashid now has three five-wicket hauls in the Championship this season and the Tykes good morning was then completed by Jacques Rudolph and Adam Lyth, who are unbeaten on ten and nine respectively at lunch.

It means Yorkshire are 29-0, 370 runs behind Essex’s first-innings total.
