York Cricket Club have been handed a tough draw in the qualifying stage of the Solly Sports Yorkshire League T20 competition.
The league champions for the last six years will have to travel to last season’s long-time title rivals Harrogate on Sunday, June 9.
They will compete alongside the hosts in a three-team round-robin contest completed by North Yorkshire rivals Scarborough.
York take on Harrogate in the opening match at 10am and, if victorious, will then meet Scarborough in the day’s final encounter scheduled to start at 4pm.
If they should lose to Harrogate they will be back in action at 1pm against Scarborough.
The side finishing on top after all three matches will take their place on finals day at Scarborough CC’s North Marine Road ground in July.
If Daniel Woods’ men need any extra incentive it comes in the form of possible home advantage in the national T20 competition as Clifton Park has been chosen as the venue for the regional finals day of the ECB tournament.
