THE chasing pack reduced York’s lead at the top to four points on another rain-affected day in the Hunters ECB Yorkshire Premier League North, only Hull picking up maximum points as rain played a part in four of the six matches.
Less than a dozen overs were possible at Shipton Road, but that was enough time for visitors Stamford Bridge to reduce York to 34-3, Dominic Rhodes taking 3 for 3 from six overs before showers and a saturated square led to play being abandoned.
Hull made it back-to-back wins as they beat visitors Castleford by 100 runs.
Skipper Matthew Wilkinson (88) and Andrew Simpson (37) shared an opening stand of 90 before David Wainwright took 4-54 to leave his side facing a target of 229-6.
Charlie Hodgson (3-26) took two early wickets as the chasing side found themselves in trouble at 6-3, and they rallied somewhat but Jahanger Alam (3-53) weighed in as the visitors were bowled out for 129.
Sheriff Hutton Bridge overcame Woodhouse Grange in one of two matches decided by Duckworth Lewis.
Mark Fisher turned in a strong all-round performance for the home side, taking 3-34 as, despite 65 from Michael Hattee and 40 from Tom Young, the visitors were restricted to 209-8.
He then scored 51 and, in partnership with Samuel Anthony (64no), put on 119 for the second wicket, allowing the hosts to chase down their reduced target of 159 for the loss of three wickets.
Harrogate were given an adjusted target after interruptions for rain at St George’s Road, and raced to victory by seven wickets with 15 overs to spare.
Set 184, the hosts made short work of things, Jonathan Tattersall adding an unbeaten 52 to last week’s 92 and skipper George Ross contributing 40.
That was in reply to Scarborough’s 189-7 (James Pick 60, Cameron O’Donnell 3-37).
Dunnington are still searching for their first points of the season after they lost at home to Yorkshire Academy in a 20-overs-a-side match.
Opener Ben Ainsley (55) scored his second half-century in a row as, despite 5-35 from Dave Brent, the visitors reached 137-7.
The in-form James Logan took 4-10 as the hosts stumbled to 51-8 in reply, losing their last four wickets without addition.
Tom Neal picked up 4-38, including Ali Asad (88), as Acomb recorded their first win of the campaign at home to Driffield Town.
After making 205-8 (Joe Dale 43), they restricted the visitors to 185-8, a notable victory, while the away side at least took four points.
