FORMER England Test star Phil DeFreitas now stands between York Cricket Club and a place in round three of the ECB National Knockout.
DeFreitas, who won 44 Test caps, is vice-captain of Nottinghamshire side Papplewick and Linby, who will play host to a York side that squeezed past Beverley Town in round one.
The Clifton Parkers totalled 208-6 from their 45 overs, with Alex Collins leading the charge with an unbeaten 77.
Tom Pringle (35no) helped him add 77 runs in an unbroken seventh-wicket stand. Nick Kay hit 35.
Beverley were then reduced to 114-8 before limping to 181 all out from 42.5 overs.
Daniel Woods took 3-15 from nine overs and Jonathan Moxon, son of Yorkshire chief Martyn, took 3-48 on his debut.
Papplewick and Linby edged past Chesterfield in round one, hitting the winning boundary off the final ball to reach their target of 210.
They will entertain York on Sunday, June 6.
