But Snell made light of the conditions, hitting 18 boundaries as he steered the leaders to their sixth victory of the campaign.

Bartram and Snell had the home side 33-6 by the end of the 15th over.

Chavez Younes and skipper Matt Morland added 42 for the seventh wicket before Younes was caught and bowled by Nick Kay for 25.

Morland followed one run later, leaving Frodingham on 71-8, after 24 overs.

The last three batsmesn, Carl Taylor (30 off only 13 balls), Paul Hilton (eight) and wicketkeeper Rob Powell (19no) added an astonishing 68 runs off the last 5.4 overs.

Bartram’s final figures were 5-64, while Kay took the last four wickets, but suffered heavy punishment, his 4.4 overs costing 32 runs.

Snell and Dan Wilson got York off to a flying start, putting on 59 before Wilson was caught for 12.

Simon Mason then helped Snell add 43 for the second wicket before he was bowled for 17.
