A TRIP to the steel city awaits York Cricket Club as they bid to continue their domination of the Solly Sports Yorkshire ECB County premier league.
The Clifton Parkers travel to South Yorkshire to meet Sheffield Collegiate tomorrow before the visit of Doncaster Town in the semi-finals of the League Cup on Sunday.
With a comfortable 22-point lead at the top of the table, York should be confident against a Sheffield side which are in 11th place and have collected only 43 points.
A strong team makes the trip with York’s formidable batting line up of Dan Wilson, Duncan Snell, Simon Mason and Liam McKendry expected to be in the runs again.
Captain Marcus Wood and wicketkeeper Nigel Durham make way for Sunday’s clash with Doncaster, with Matthew Hodsdon, who plays in the second team tomorrow, and ’keeper James Wackett replacing the pair in the side.
Elsewhere, a mix of first and second team players helped York to win the inaugural Driffield 20-over competition.
Captain Daniel Woods led a side which overcame Hornsea in the semi-final before securing a three-wicket win over Driffield in front of a partisan home crowd.
York have been invited by the Solly Sports Yorkshire League Committee to host the North East finals day of the National Cockspur Twenty20 Knockout Cup.
Four teams from the North will play off in two semi-finals and the final at Clifton Park on Sunday, August 22.
Match times and competitors are yet to be confirmed, but it is hoped York will be one of the participating outfits.
