THE HPH York Vale Cricket League is to mark its 80th anniversary with a special match this summer.
A League Legends XI will take on a Sponsors XI at Clifton Alliance’s ground on Sunday, June 23.
League committee members Ian Holmes and Richard Kerrison have been appointed match co-ordinators and the line-ups will be announced later this year.
The following Sunday, the league’s junior six-a-side competition will be played at Pocklington, who hosted the inaugural event last year.

Wheldrake secretary Philip Rawlinson has been co-opted as the league’s treasurer. He replaces Dave Morton who stood down towards the end of last season. Rawlinson is based at the offices of sponsor, HPH, in Bootham, York.
Venues for the league’s various cup finals have been arranged.
They are: HPH Cup at Heworth on Sunday, August 4; Scothern Construction Cup (Hemingbrough) on Sunday, August 11; President’s Cup (Selby) on Sunday, August 18; Guy Mitchell Cup (Pocklington) on Sunday, August 18; Prendergast Memorial (Dunnington) on Sunday, August 25.
The league’s annual dinner and presentation evening, to be hosted by BBC Radio York’s Adam Tomlinson, a Thorp Arch & Boston Spa player, will be staged at the Royal York Hotel’s Events Centre on October 12.
The next league committee meeting will be held on Tuesday, March 26, at Fulfordgate WMC which will also be the venue for the secretaries’ pre-season meeting on Tuesday, April 16 (7.30pm) when handbooks and match balls will be handed out.
