BISHOPTHORPE scrambled a bye off the last ball of the match to snatch victory against Burn in division one of the HPH York Vale Cricket League.

Andrew Watson scored 69 as Burn totalled 198 but Ross Kelly responded with 70 to take Bish to the thrilling finale as the seventh-wicket pair just got home.

There was another close affair at Crayke, where 14-year-old William Scholey stroked 72 not out as Clifton Alliance overhauled Hemingbrough’s 189 in the final over.

It was also tight at North Cave, where home skipper James Ferguson’s unbeaten 93 was enough to hold off leaders Stockton & Hopgrove by two runs.

Barmby Moor rediscovered their best form by beating Wheldrake by 45 runs. Barry Shepherdson was out in the last over for 96 in Moor's 211-2, which also included half-centuries for Andrew Winn and Charlie Cameron.

Ben Johnson’s decision to bat back-fired as they were blown away by Adam Moseley (6-24), Copmanthorpe winning by nine wickets.

Ian Lake crashed a superb 130 as Selby raced to 280-8 to beat Westow by 102 runs in division two.

Greg Sykes hit 72 as Heworth set 162-8 against Hirst Courtney, who lost both openers for zero before Tony Hinch (69no) and Nigel Goddard (66no) finished the eight-wicket win in style.

Mick Nelson’s unbeaten 72 lifted Fulfordgate from 22-4 to 115 all out against Askham Bryan, whose Parag Mohite (77) swept his side to victory.

An opening partnership of 110 between Tom Ashby (69) and Tom Cookson (42) saw Ovington to an easy win against University of York Staff.

A late spurt of 88 from the last eight overs saw Woodhouse Grange to 214-8 against Kelfield, Ashley Cattle (67) and Stuart Craven (66) putting on 102. Phil Smith (69) led Kelfield’s reply which fell 36 runs short.

North Duffield were skittled for 30 – the lowest league score of the season – by division three leaders York RI, whose Shaun Littlewood (6-11) and Graham Byrne (4-19) mopped the innings up in 18.4 overs.

There were no such batting problems for James Spencer, who struck a magnificent unbeaten 136 as Malton & Old Malton thrashed Acomb. However, even that was topped by teenager Joe Robinson’s 157 not out as Thixendale won at Stillingfleet.

Perwez Akhtar (69 and 3-20) was unlucky to finish on the losing side as Heworth II were pipped in a last-over thriller after Huntington earned their first win of the season in division four.

Wheldrake II’s John Cockerill’s undefeated 95 led his side to victory at Burn II, while Copmanthorpe II duo John Traves (5-24) and Alistair Byers (4-15) destroyed Hemingbrough II’s young side for 40.

Fifteen-year-old Daniel Baker (108) scored his first century as Drax beat Pocklington by 19 runs in division five.

Matt Beech scored 68 in his second game for Dunnington to earn victory at Tadcaster Magnet.

Defending 150-8 at Thorp Arch & Boston Spa, Stockton & Hopgrove II had the home side on 38-4, but Tom Bird (81no) saw TABS home with nine balls to spare.
