HPH Cup holders Hemingbrough eased into the semi-finals with a comfortable seven-wicket win against Ovington.

Fifteen-year-old spinner Rob Peet claimed his first ‘five-for’ haul with 5-26 as Ovington were restricted to 139-9. Matt Clark finished the game in style, hitting a six for an unbeaten 54.

Another maiden five-wicket man, Jonny Rawsthorne (5-45), bowled Heworth into the last four at the expense of Selby, whose Scott Smith smashed a 40-ball 72.

Ian Holmes hit 72 from 61 deliveries as Bishopthorpe totalled 183-9 against North Cave, who recovered from 25-2 after ten overs to win thanks to a dazzling 107 not out by James Ferguson.

Tight bowling by Darren Hughes (3-22) and John Hughes, who conceded just eight runs from his ten-over ration, saw Copmanthorpe restrict Askham Bryan to 97-7. Cop eased home by four wickets but only after Parag Mohite’s 6-14 briefly threatened a shock.

Thorpe Willoughby, chasing Westow’s 143, squeezed into the last four of the Scothern Construction Cup by one wicket after recovering from 50-6.

Wicketkeeper batsman Campbell Thompson’s classy 60 not out earned Stillingfleet an eight-wicket win at Malton & Old Malton, whose Alistair Blacklee (54) was the main man.

Veteran Hirst Courtney spinner Ken Winters turned the screw on Melbourne with figures of 9-4-12-4 and York RI thumped Bishopthorpe II by 97 runs with Brian Sellers (44) and Phil Holland (41) providing the platform for RI’s 195-7.

In the Guy Mitchell Cup, 13-year-old Josh Bean claimed 5-37 against Ben Johnson to guarantee Clifton Alliance’s passage into the semi-finals.

Dan Barrett (69) and Dave Kerrison (59) shared 113 for Stockton & Hopgrove in a crushing win over Wheldrake.

Burn’s Graham Parker set up victory against University of Staff with 4-40 and Barmby Moor’s struggles continued as their nine-man side crashed at Kelfield, whose Jonny Falkingham junior scored 54.

A chanceless 130 not out by Rob Daniel, backed by Sam Craven’s 62, was the highlight of Woodhouse Grange’s crushing Prendergast Memorial Cup win at Welton & Brough.

Acomb’s matchwinner against Hemingbrough II was Palliyapitiya Suranga (50). He shared a 98-run stand with Dan Littlewood before taking 3-19.

Fulfordgate were shot out for just 48 by North Duffield, whose John Patrick, Trevor Britain and spinner Craig Patrick took three wickets apiece.

York and Heworth II will contest the final of the Graham Headley Memorial Cup at Acomb after wins against Ovington II and Burton Salmon respectively.

York’s Andrew Procter took 4-12 as Ovington were dismissed cheaply and Heworth overcame Salmon despite David Thornton’s 60.

There was a full league programme of division five matches with Jim Lee scoring 67 in a rare outing for Askham Bryan II, who crushed Selby II by 110 runs.

Dunnington’s Jack Spofforth, aged 13, excelled with 5-34 in a three-wicket win against Thorpe Willoughby II.

Wicket-to-wicket bowling by Pete Eastwood (5-18 in 12 overs) earned Pocklington victory at Stockton & Hopgrove II after team-mate Elliott Newby scored 58.

The Edwards brothers, Nick (5-10) and Dan (4-32), bowled Yapham to a home win against Drax.
