Copmanthorpe moved into the semi-finals of the HPH Cup with a solid six-wicket victory at second division side Westow.

The young Ryedale side could not close the gulf against the York Vale Cricket League champions in a game reduced to 32 overs because of the wet weather.

Westow’s batsmen found Dave Deighton difficult to get away as he only conceded 11 runs in 7.5 overs.

Chris Hall returned figures of 8-0-18-4 and Tom Lambert took 3-22 as the home side were bowled out for 103. Giles Ricks (38 not out) saw Copmanthorpe home.

There were runs galore as Burn amassed 250-6 against Hemingbrough, Leigh Adamson scoring 93. Hemingbrough, led by 16-year-old Rob Scarr’s unbeaten 80, made a terrific effort to reach the target but lost by 18 runs.

Youngster Will Huffer (43) top-scored in Heworth’s 25-run win against Welton & Brough in the Scothern Construction Cup.

In-form Liam Hancey set up Fulfordgate’s crushing 114-run victory against Goole Town in the Prendergast Memorial Cup.

The teenager followed his half-century the previous week with a slick 67 in the York side’s 201-7. Dave Baldock (4-23) soon had Goole in big trouble and, despite a fighting knock by Sam Copping of 42, which featured several big sixes, Goole were bowled out for 87.

Stamford Bridge advanced in the President’s Cup with a 20-run win against Heworth II. Neil Porteus (31) top-scored as Bridge totalled 140, Jordan Edge being the pick of the Heworth attack with 3-19.

Porteus then took three catches behind the stumps as Heworth struggled to 47-5. Despite 51 from Glenn Howells, Heworth were bowled out for 120, James Hutchinson mopping up the tail in spectacular fashion, taking three wickets for just one run in 14 deliveries.

Tight bowling by Matthew Riley (3-12) and Jamie Mackie (3-25) in their ten-over spells set up Bishopthorpe II’s six-wicket win at Thorp Arch & Boston Spa II.

A devastating burst by Damian Greig (4-16) propelled Askham Bryan to victory at Thorpe Willoughby II in the Graham Headley Memorial Trophy.

He produced four successive wicket maidens in the middle of his spell as Thorpe were reduced to 13-5 after 15 overs. Saleem Hussain (39) led a fightback but Thorpe were bowled out for just 78 and Askham went on to win by four wickets.

Big hitting by Aiden Pearce got Selby over the line in a Guy Mitchell Cup thriller against Bishopthorpe.

The Bishops limped to 15-3, until a 76-run partnership between Ben Smith (63) and Scott Reeves (40) enabled them to finish on 162-9.

Openers Steve Cruise (58) and Adam Sparks (51) got Selby off to a flier before Bishopthorpe hit back with Rory Watson grabbing four wickets.

Selby went into the final over needing nine to win with two wickets remaining. Pearce eased the tension by hitting Watson’s first delivery to the boundary and finished the match in style by sending the next ball over the ropes.

A partnership of 79 between Mark Taylor (49no) and Niall Tilsley (33) was the key to Clifton Alliance’s win against Wheldrake.
