SELBY Town manager Ian Dring described tomorrow’s home fixture with Yorkshire Amateur as a must-win game, writes Dale Harris.

The Robins are bottom of Northern Counties East League division one and face the team sitting directly above them.

Dring said: “This is a massive game for us and one we’ve got to win.

“I’m confident we can beat them. This is the big one for us and we’ve got to make sure that we get the win to kickstart our season.”

Selby currently trail tomorrow’s Flaxley Road visitors by 14 points.

Dring’s side have lost their last eight games, the latest being Tuesday’s 4-2 defeat to sixth place Pontefract Collieries.

The Robins’ scorers were Ben Redfern and Jack Wooley, from the penalty spot, while former Town player Steve Lyon, pictured, netted twice for Pontefract.

The manager said of the defeat: “We were good going forward, but the back four were shocking.

“It was stupid errors that cost us and the goals were comical. There will be a different defence tomorrow.

“There was no lack of commitment from the lads, but they gave the opposition four gifts and we have no excuses about the result.

“The players were all disappointed at full-time, but it’s up to me to get them buzzing for tomorrow.”

Fifth-placed Knaresborough Town travel to Emley, who are seventh, tomorrow.
