TADCASTER Albion manager Paul Marshall is calling for his players to perform more consistently.
The Brewers completed back-to-back wins over Glasshoughton Welfare in the Northern Counties East League premier division on Tuesday.
Marshall’s men won 3-1 thanks to goals from Andy McCormick, George Bissett and Carl Stewart, and the manager said: “It’s a work in progress.
“It is a young, inexperienced squad, who are a little bit naive at times. We made it hard work for ourselves.”
Tadcaster are sixth in the table, one point off fifth place with a game in hand.
Albion are unbeaten in their last four games, but Marshall said: “We have been very inconsistent this season.
“If we perform to the best of our ability we can beat anyone.
“We’re among the best passers in the league in my opinion, but we need to learn how to deal with the different conditions.”
Tomorrow, the Brewers travel to 17th-placed Armthorpe.
The home side have lost their last three games, but Marshall said: “There is no easy game.
“Every game’s tough in the premier division and anyone can beat anyone on their day.”
Going into the game, Marshall praised his squad, saying: “They’re a very confident team. There is a good buzz around the club and the squad is very strong.”
Meanwhile, Pickering Town will have to wait another couple of weeks to play their North Riding Senior Cup quarter-final against Grangetown Old Boys after it was again called off.
The fixture will now take place on Tuesday, February 19 after the pitch at Thornaby was deemed upfit.
The Pikes will now turn their attention to tomorrow’s NCEL clash at Lincoln Moorlands Railway, a team they beat 7-2 in September.
Despite that one-sided meeting, Pickering manager Jimmy Reid said: “We beat them comfortably last time, but they’ve strengthened since then and have picked up a few results. They will be a harder team to beat this time but hopefully with a bit of luck we can get the win.”
Pikes ’keeper Arran Reid, the manager’s son, has re-joined top of the table Scarborough Athletic and should figure at Arnold Town tomorrow.
