SECOND division Derwent United are through to the semi-finals of the Ian’s Cars of Barlby League Cup after beating first division Acomb Celtic 2-0.
Steve Twamley gave United a 1-0 lead at the break. Though Celtic piled on the pressure, a defiant display from goalkeeper Ben Gill and defenders Simon Cooke, Paul Holder kept them at bay before Dean Nuttall sealed the tie.
In the third round, Station FC routed nine-man York RI 15-1 with goals from Luke Durham (3), Will Ramsey (2), Wayne Brook (2), Matty Dunn, Dave Heron, Craig Anderson, Gary Lumley, Gareth Roberts, Steve Lyon, Mike Braithwaite and Brett Collier. Gary Rylance hit RI’s consolation.
Hounds FC needed extra time before seeing off Dunnington 3-0.
