Tadcaster Albion entertain Staveley Miners Welfare in the Northern Counties East League top-flight tomorrow, writes Oscar Pearson.
Boss Paul Marshall called for consistency last weekend though his side could only manage a goalless draw with mid-table Parkgate in midweek. But a second home game on the spin may be the ideal platform to get the promotion push back on track.
“Tuesday night was frustrating,” said Marshall. “They went down to ten men in the second half and we created lots of chances. We opened them up but didn’t have the end product.
“But tomorrow is a big game for us. They’re going through a bit of turmoil at Staveley and I’ve signed a few of their players. Scott McGrory did very well on the right for us on Tuesday and he’ll start tomorrow.
“We’re hoping to go seven games unbeaten which isn’t bad for a young side. We’ll go all out for the three points. It will be an interesting game – one we should be winning.”
Table-toppers Scarborough Athletic will take another step closer to becoming premier division kingpins if they beat mid-table Long Easton United.
Meanwhile, Selby Town go to Hallam full of confidence after a 4-1 victory over Yorkshire Amateur in the NCEL first division.
The rock-bottom side ended their 15-match winless run and have four games in hand over Amateur, who sit just one place and 11 points above them.
Manager Ian Dring is positive about his side’s chances of avoiding the drop.
“Hallam haven’t lost for ten games but we can be their stumbling point,” he said.
“I’ve been waiting for this week in all honesty.
“We have the players we’ve been lacking, and it’s all down to the performances now.
“I’m confident we can win our upcoming games, and I know we’re going to get out of the situation we’re in.”
