GOAL-MACHINE Carl Stewart was the model of accuracy to advance Enterprise’s winning run in the first division of the Ian’s Cars of Barlby Sunday Morning Football League.

Stewart netted all five goals in their 5-3 home win against Severus.

He opened the scoring with only five minutes on the clock but the visitors hit back with two goals from Nick Hutchinson to lead 2-1.

Stewart levelled soon after, but it was Severus who led 3-2 at the break with a penalty from Dave Watson.

However, Enterprise took control in the second period and were rewarded when Stewart found the net three more times taking his tally to 25 goals in all Sunday competitions.

Acomb Celtic’s title hopes took a knock when they went down 5-4 at home to Hounds, whose plunder came from Chris Jackson with a hat-trick and solo efforts by Liam Olsson and new signing Will Sparks. Mark Benton (2), Stuart Nicholls and replied.

Scott Sullivan hit the target four times in Dunnington’s 6-2 win at Skelton. Also on target were Jonny Andrews and Simon Castle, with the home goals shared by Jamie Green and Ricky Hunter.

Division two leaders Derwent United remain five points clear after winning 3-1 at Beeswing.

Damon Cox (2) and Dean Nuttall scored, as did Myron Turbine for the hosts.

Second-placed Leeman United, with a penalty from Liam Stilgo plus strikes from Neil Hartley and Danny Coulson, beat York Nomads 3-0 to go two points clear of York Medics who were surprisingly held 0-0 by bottom side Hemingbrough.

A first-half brace from Ian Huddlestone, backed by goals from Eddie Neate and Kane Snelson, enabled Hambleton to beat Haxby Lions 4-1 to keep their promotion hopes alive.

Bubwith Nomads raced into a 4-0 half-time lead against Marcia Grey through Neil Hunter, Sam Milner, Rob Eels and Craig Hodgson before eventually running out 7-1 winners.

Michael Hemmingway leathered in a 20-yard shot before Milner and Hodgson both bagged their second goals. Marcia’s consolation went to Carl Massingham.

In division three, Bishopthorpe United can claim the bragging rights of being the best side in the village after thumping Marcia Bishopthorpe 10-1.

The derby-winning goals come from Matty Howden (3), Mike Reville (2), Andy Manns (2), Noel Harrison, Ben Smith and James Fedyszyn. Stuart Dickinson netted Marcia’s lone reply.

Braces from Andy Woodall and Tom Robinson, plus a Mark Howson strike saw Bubwith White Swan claim the points in a 5-1 win at Brayton, whose only strike came from Michael Davison.

Selby Olympia went down 3-1 to visitors York RI – the home side’s goal notched by Danny May.

In division four, FC Barlby kept up their promotion hopes with an 8-0 win at York Phoenix thanks to four goals from Marco Puliga, backed by efforts from Steve Wilks, Tom Wright, Lee Carter and Louis Blackwell.

Selby Railway went one better, thrashing York St John 9-3. On target for the railwaymen were Josh Knowles (3), James Hanson (2), Kevin Weston, Jon Teale, Dave Sayles and Janos Takacs. The students’ replies came from Tom Ryan (2) and Angus Jones.
