RAMPANT Pickering Town went on a rampage to continue their robust Northern Counties East League run.

Manager Jimmy Reid’s charges followed on from their advance into the North Riding Senior Cup semi-finals with an emphatic 4-0 success at Hall Road Rangers to rack up their third consecutive NCEL premier division conquest.

Despite a blank first half on a muddy, untrue surface, Pickering never gave up the ghost and finally accounted for their hosts with a four-goal blitz in the space of just 20 minutes.

The deadlock-breaker was struck by Chris Gowen in the 68th minute and the floodgates opened.

Liam Shepherd bagged the second soon after and then Steve Baxter and Joe Danby doubled the visitors’ advantage with two goals within a minute just before the final whistle.

Said a delighted Reid: “It wasn’t a great pitch but we stuck at it.

“We knew that once we’d get a goal that we’d get more and after Chris scored their heads went down.

“But to get a clean sheet and four goals is what every manager is looking for and it shows we are still going along in the right way.”

Tadcaster Albion were also buoyed by a successful away sortie.

They saw off homesters Lincoln Moorlands Railway 2-0 with an early strike from Callum Ward followed by a second on the hour from Steve Jeff.

And Selby Town’s revival at the foot of the NCEL first division was unluckily quelled.

Seeking a third consecutive triumph, they went down by the odd goal of five to Worsbrough Bridge.

The Robins opened and closed the scoring in the third and 80th minutes by David Gray and Nathan Kamara, but in between time the Bridge ranks banged in three goals.

Harrogate Town amassed all three Blue Square Bet North points at Gloucester thanks to goals from Tom Platt and Knowles by the 16th minute.

Harrogate Railway Athletic also sampled victory, a Liam Hardy strike on the cusp of half-time sealing an Evo-Stik League first division north success over Trafford.
