SELBY Town’s irresistible rise from Northern Counties East League first division gloom continued with a single-goal triumph over visitors Dinnington Town.
After manager Ian Dring and his charges had finally assured the removal of almost certain relegation, they took to the Flaxley Road pitch against Dinnington with a threadbare squad.
But for all their depleted resources, the Robins still created the best chances with Luke Hall and Tom Owen going closest, the latter from a rasping free-kick that crashed against the crossbar.
Selby goalkeeper Adam Walters produced two superb saves either side of half-time before the lone goal of the game was struck by man-of-the-match Owen, pictured above, ten minutes from time.
Selby have two games left before wrapping up their remarkable turnaround term – at Askern Villa on Saturday before entertaining Knaresborough Town a week later.
