REIGNING champions Station set up a title decider against division one leaders King William with back-to-back wins in the Ian’s Cars of Barlby York Sunday Morning Football League, writes Dave Bailey.
Station hammered visitors Wigginton Grasshoppers 11-1 with goals from Wayne Brooke (3), Mike Braithwaite (2), Steven Lyon (2), Tom Littlewood (2), Gareth Roberts and Gary Collier. Michael Clancey lobbed the ’keeper from the halfway line for Wiggy’s reply.
Station closed the gap to only one point, ahead of last night’s decider with a 7-1 win over Enterprise.
Hounds’s Ryan Whitlam scored to snatch a point from a 1-1 draw with Enterprise after Matty Pallister had given the visitors the lead.
Derwent United were crowned division two champions after seeing off second-placed Bubwith Nomads 9-0. The title-winning tally included four goals from Marcus Godsall, plus strikes by Simon Cooke, Danny Fogg, Robbie Baker, Calum Scott and Andy Thornton.
